Social Media Marketing Internship
Who Are We Looking For?
We’re seeking creative, social media–savvy students who are ready to bring energy and fresh ideas to our marketing team! This is a hands-on internship perfect for those looking to build experience in content creation and social media marketing.
Qualified candidates are working on their degrees in marketing, communications, graphic design, or similar fields.
Qualifications:
- Must be actively enrolled in a college or university.
- Must be majoring in marketing, communications, graphic design, or a similar field.
- Must be comfortable using Canva to create social media posts and other marketing materials.
- Must have one of the newer phones that is capable of recording high quality video and taking high quality photos.
- Must be good at editing photos with brightness/contrast changes, etc.
- Must be comfortable learning how to edit social media reels on TikTok and CapCut
- Must be knowledgeable about (or eager to learn) Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok best practices.
- Must understand — or be willing to learn — how social media algorithms work and how to improve content ranking.
- Must be willing and able to research trending content, music, and tags to boost reach and engagement.
- Must be professional, organized, and excited to bring ideas to life.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work independently while following brand guidelines.
What Will You Learn As An Intern?
This is a fun, high-energy internship where you’ll literally be creating and engaging with social media all day! You’ll gain hands-on experience in social media content creation, branding, and digital marketing strategy while learning how to capture and edit engaging video content for a professional business.

Social Media Marketing & Analytics
✓ Discover how social media algorithms work and how to optimize content for better ranking.
✓ Research and analyze trending content, music, and hashtags to increase engagement.
✓ Learn how to monitor post-performance and adjust strategy for best results.
Social Media Content Creation & Strategy
✓ Learn how to brainstorm, plan, and execute engaging social media campaigns.
✓ Gain experience using Canva and CapCut to edit video content.
✓ Understand how to create, edit, and post short-form videos for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and Facebook.
✓ Learn how to schedule social media posts across platforms.
✓ Learn how to leverage AI technology to automate social media efforts and conduct research for ranking higher in social media searches.
Brand Representation & Community Engagement
✓ Gain experience capturing fun, authentic video content inside a dental office setting.
✓ Learn how to promote events, specials, and services creatively.
✓ Understand how to maintain brand voice and tone across all content.
Internship Compensation:
This internship can be completed for pay or for university credit:
Paid Option: $10–$15 per hour, working a maximum of 10 hours per week.
Credit Option: Eligible students may complete this internship for 2–3 university credit hours, depending on their institution’s requirements. Please verify with your Internship Coordinator to ensure the internship qualifies.
Internship Requirements for Credit
Salling & Tate Family Dentistry offers internships to actively enrolled college/university students. For credit, students typically must work at least 126 total hours (about 8–9 hours per week over a semester). Students completing the internship for credit will follow all requirements set by their institution.
Internship Duties:

- Students will work in person at the Salling & Tate office, where they will:
- Research social profiles to identify trends and content ideas.
- Design and schedule social media posts.
- Record and edit video content.
Internship Outlook:

- Expect to gain hands-on experience in real-world marketing and social media strategy.
- Expect to create fun, engaging content that will be posted to active business accounts.
- Expect to track your hours via a spreadsheet or software.
- Expect to collaborate with the marketing team to brainstorm and review creative ideas.
- Expect to research social media trends and apply them to campaigns.
- Expect to follow any additional requirements from your school, such as evaluations, final essays, etc.
